However, the quality of players at 1 2 NLHE is very low so it should be possible to make up for that. The rake structure is 10% up to a max of $5 at the Edgewater. However, no rake is taken off of hands decided pre-flop. Its important to not put yourself into neutral EV situations where the rake will tip you into the negative. Winning pots pre-flop will also help you avoid paying a $5 rake (an added incentive to play hands like AK hard pre-flop). I do know there are players who beat this structure.

I am sure you are right about the tournaments being exceptionally soft and relatively easy money. It doesn’t surprise me that you are able to win consistently at these games. Be careful with tournaments though as variance in tournaments is huge and difficult to quantify.

Good luck!

The rake is a killer and would certainly eat up any advantage skill would provide in these “no foldem holdem” games. The 3-5 and above can provide some profit provided you play the weekend tourist crowd. 30 hrs a week with the regulars and again the rake takes it all.
Live Tournaments provide the best opportunity. If I have more than one month a year in the red, it is very unusual.
